Luton Integrated Youth Support Service Health, Care and Wellbeing Careers Fair

This takes place on Thursday 13th November 2008 at the Saturn Conference Centre, Park Street, Luton. Supported by Skills for Health, Skills for Care (Eastern)  Aimhhigher (Eastern) and the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) in partnership with Luton Integrated Youth Support Service and The Britten Partnership.

It's an interactive day for years 9,10,11,&13. The aim is to provide students with an insight into a range of jobs, careers and training available to students post 16 in the Health and Social Care sector, through interactive workshops and careers stands.

From 1st October 2008 The Britten Partnership manages the Science and Engineering Ambassadors (SEAs) on behalf of STEMNET, in Bedford and Luton

The programme will support schools in enhancing and developing their STEM curriculum through working with Ambassadors with a science, maths, technology or engineering background or job role.

Young people in Bedford and Luton will benefit from meeting with SEAs and getting hands-on and first hand help to better their experience and knowledge of STEM related subjects.

A launch presentation for the new SEA programme will form part of the Cranfield University enterprise week event on the evening of 18th November 2008. If you want to get involved, or would like to become an SEA or want more information please contact seas@brittenpartnership.co.uk

 

Models for engaging students in considering higher education opportunities and progression into health and social care

The Britten Partnership delivered a workshop at the Aimhigher National Conference 2008 in collaboration with Lesley Thompson Regional Director Aimhigher (East), the workshop considered the impact of students accessing insights into the health sector in two different settings. Firstly through students experiencing working in an acute hospital, and working with a range of professional staff across a diverse section of the health sector. Secondly, using a 'live' scenario, students follow the progress of causalities in a road accident through their care programme from the scene of the accident to rehabilitations. Another year for the Skills for Care Ambassadors Programme

The Britten Partnership have won another years contract with Skills for Care to deliver the Skills for Care Ambassador Programme across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire Luton, Essex, Thurrock and Southend. New this year will be working closely with the sub-regional Connexions Service to support careers advisors and Connexions staff promote the social care sector in schools. Healthcare Ambassador programme kicks off in the East of England

Skills for Health and the Aimhigher (Healthcare) strand have kicked off their Health Ambassadors programme managed by the Britten Partnership. Open to secondary schools across the region, the programme supports students find out more about working in a healthcare setting. Kate completes the Comino de Santiago....

Walking to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Kate completed a 300 mile trek across the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain in  April this year. She raised £850.00 for Guide Dogs from kind donations from many friends, business colleagues  and family.
