The Britten Partnership creates links between
Education and the Employment and Business Community.
Our aim is to provide young people with an excellent understanding of the world of employment as well as the many different Further and Higher Education and Training routes available to them.
We achieve this via a variety of Work Related learning activities including Themed Conferences and Ambassador Programmes.
We are one of the preferred providers for Ambassador Programmes in Health and Social Care and work closely with Sector Skills Councils and the NHS.

NEWS
The Britten Partnership launch 'What's the Point of......?'.
The Britten Partnership has used its extensive experience in running Ambassador Programmes and events to develop a new service for schools. 'What's the point of ........ ?' explores how study of a particular curriculum subject can lead to various career options within that academic or vocational field. Any subject such as Mathematics, Physics, French, English, Health and Social Care, Business Studies etc can be inserted to produce an interesting approach to Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance, to identify pathways and to motivate young people to work harder and achieve better results. If you are looking to boost performance in a particular subject, say Mathematics, why not engage us to motivate your young people to achieve their full potential.
The format for the day, or half day, is a conference where a group of professionals with a background in the subject will run a series of workshops exploring their own pathways and wider career options within their own particular area. In addition keynote speakers will be available as well as exhibition areas where Professional Bodies and the Private and Public sector will be represented. Actors are sometimes used where appropriate to maximise the impact of the day.
To facilitate these events The Britten Partnership will visit your school to discuss the format for the day and the particular learning outcomes you are seeking. The Britten Partnership will then organise the event, recruit and train the workshop leaders and keynote speaker, recruit exhibitors, brief and rehearse the actors if appropriate, provide all documentation, oversee the event and provide an evaluation. The school will provide a venue, select the students to take part (providing transport if required) and provide catering for all guests.

The Accident.
With the support of the Health Ambassador East programme, The Britten Partnership organised a one day Interactive Health and Social Care conference entitled ‘The Accident’ at Neale Wade Community College for Year 10 SHD students on Tuesday 5th July. The event was sponsored by The Fenland Partnership and Aimhigher Cambridgeshire.
The students ‘witnessed’ a Road Traffic Accident, performed by actors, and then attended interactive workshops led by Health, Social Care and Community Justice professionals dealing with the immediate aftermath and longer term care issues that might arise from such a situation. Cambridgeshire Police and a paramedic team from Medical Europe Ltd also participated in the scenario to provide the students with a very realistic experience of a crash scene.
The aim of the event was to provide students with an overview of the range of Health and Social Care services involved in such a situation as well as giving them a chance to meet with professionals and to discuss the job roles in more detail and to learn about the skills and qualities required.
Everyone that attended the conference including students, teachers and guests were asked to complete an evaluation form. The feedback was very positive and it was clear that the objectives for the day were met. All of the students said that they found the event interesting and the number of students seriously considering a career in Health, Social Care or Police rose from 62% before the event to 81% afterwards.
Feedback from teachers and guests was equally good with one of the guests sharing their view of the day as an ‘Excellent and well balanced day’. The scenario itself was also praised with 85% of students saying that this was the part of the day they enjoyed most and one guest wrote that ‘The actors stimulate interest & enthusiasm throughout the day & are key to the success of this event’.
The comment from Neale Wade Community College was ‘Just a short thank you note for your hard work on helping organise the “Accident” event. My students loved the event, they’ve had a great learning experience and although tired at the end of the day, they were all extremely appreciative in their remarks versus the activities that they were involved in.
Many thanks to all the guest speakers as well!’
Skills for Care Care Ambassador Programme.
There will not be a formal Care Ambassador Programme next year as Skills for Care Eastern are unable to continue the funding for the contract. However 'Care Ambassadors' is still a key initiative for Skills for Care and nationally they are considering how they can develop a programme in the future. See page Skills for Care.
Skills for Care Eastern and ourselves, The Britten Partnership, would like to thank all of the Care Ambassadors for their enthusiasm, innovation and hard work in supporting the promotion of social care through the Care Ambassador Programme over the last 4 years. A big Thank You from all of us.
The Britten Partnership, is still involved in Health and Social Care initiatives such as conferences, summer schools etc so we will stay in touch.
