Kate Britten - Managing Director
Kate has 20 years experience in economic, enterprise and skills development spanning the private, not-for profit and public sector. This includes 7 years working with blue-chip companies in skills and educational development, and 5 years as a senior manager at the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).
While at EEDA she was responsible for innovation and enterprise policy. Amongst a number of new initiatives, she established Health Enterprise east, the innovation hub for the Health Sector funded by EEDA, the NHS and DTI, and she has extensive experience of negotiating new programmes working with sub-regional and local partners.
While working for the not-for-profit sector she developed and managed a county based co-ordination service for Age Concern, working with elderly people and their carers, as well as being responsible for liaison across the range of statutory and voluntary bodies. She is a Prince's Trust business Advisor, and has served at board level for a number of voluntary organisations.
While working for the independent sector, she managed a 100 place youth training scheme across Cambridge and Fenland, responsible for recruiting, training and supporting 16-19 years olds in work placements. She also led a national marketing campaign to introduce management education to students at school, working with the Henley Management programme. She recruited companies such as Safeway, Vauxhall and Whitbread to work with her to promote management as a career.
For the last 3 years Kate has managed a successful business and delivered a range of projects in the areas of skills and learning with clients from the education sector, local authorities and government bodies. Specifically, she has developed training programmes for employers as part of outreach work to promote the specialised diplomas. In addition, she has delivered two major research projects over the past 12 months, both for Children’s services within local authorities.
Kate gained her first degree as a bachelor of education from London University. She gained her MBA from Loughborough University. She is an RSA qualified councillor in the development of learning.
