Mental Health Scenario project
The Britten Partnership is pleased to announce that their new scenario product – set within the field of mental health - is currently in development and will be launched later this year.
Mental Health is the most natural subject for the next scenario due to some of the issues raised by ‘The Accident’ and ‘A Family in Crisis’. Many people know someone who has been affected by mental illness, few people know very much about it.
As well as exploring careers in Mental Health, the scenario will be used as a vehicle to raise awareness of mental health issues and to get young people and staff interested and talking about mental health and stigma. It will also raise awareness of mental health issues in schools and colleges. It is envisaged that it will sit alongside and link in with the national campaign Time to Change, local campaigns such as Squash Stigma and with the charity Young Minds.
- 'What's the point of ........ ?' explores how study of a particular curriculum subject can lead to various career options within that academic or vocational field. Any subject such as Mathematics, Physics, French, English, Health and Social Care, Business Studies etc can be inserted to produce an interesting approach to Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance, to identify pathways and to motivate young people to work harder and achieve better results. If you are looking to boost performance in a particular subject, say Mathematics for instance, then this programme could provide the stimulus you are looking for.
The format for the day, or half day, is a conference where a group of professionals with a background in the subject will run a series of workshops exploring their own pathways and wider career options within their own particular area. In addition keynote speakers will be available as well as exhibition areas where Professional Bodies and the Private and Public sector will be represented. Actors are sometimes used where appropriate to maximise the impact of the day.
To facilitate these events The Britten Partnership will visit your school to discuss the format for the day and the particular learning outcomes you are seeking. The Britten Partnership will then organise the event, recruit and train the workshop leaders and keynote speaker, recruit exhibitors, brief and rehearse the actors if appropriate, provide all documentation, oversee the event and provide an evaluation. The school will provide a venue, select the students to take part (providing transport if required) and provide catering for all guests.
