Skills for Care - Eastern Region
The Skills for Care Ambassadors programme gets underway again in schools and colleges from September 2009. An exciting new year of events for you to get involved with to promote the social care sector in schools and colleges across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Luton.
This year we want to hear from you if you can help us with support in schools in areas such as:
- Domiciliary Care
- Supported Living
- Residential care
- Dementia
- Management and supervisory skills
- Social work
- Child development
Society Health and Development Diploma
The Society Health and Development Diploma is one of the most innovative developments to take place in the education of 14-19 year olds for nearly forty years. SHD will open a window to young people on careers in adult social care, community justice, health and the children's and young people's workforce. Forthcoming events for Care Ambassadors
Do you want to offer your skills to work with schools promoting the Care Industry as a career? Support events are planned to enable new and existing Care Ambassadors to develop their skills and attributes in order to work with students and teachers in a learning setting.
The programme is intended to provide a mix of information, interactive sessions, practical tasks, and networking .Sessions are no longer than 2.5hours, with additional time for light refreshments if required.

We want to understand what you need in schools. We are experts in curriculum development. We can deliver schools leadership programmes. We have been involved in working with schools across the East of England on worked related curriculum, including Young Apprenticeships and 14-19 Diplomas. We know how to engage employers in working with schools. We can support you in continued professional development. We can explore new ways of engaging the Health and Social Care sector. Our aim is to ensure a sustainable programme that your staff can manage and deliver.

We want to talk to employers about your recruitment needs, and how we can help you engage with schools and colleges. Also we want to help with developing your staff. We can offer support with continued professional development. We are experts in the area of team building and leadership skills. We are trained facilitators for the Pacific Institute, and use this programme to build staff development and self-esteem.
